She speaks in slow sketches and leaning lines,
in creatures with twisting tails and outstretched claws.
She asks questions in bright blues and greens and
in the slicing yellow eyes that peer out from leafy branches.

Twirling mice dance across the length of a page
hand in hand with turkeys spinning on tip toe.
Friendly ferrets curl up between comforting panda paws,
and timid little girls stand eye to eye with speckled chickens,
listening to cautious clucks
